New Benefit - Gingivitis

Chlorhexidine is the most common mouthwash, but it can cause staining of the teeth, loss of taste and allergic reactions. So a double-blind stud compared it to extracts of chamomile and pomegranate diluted in water into mouthwashes. All three led to significant reduction in bleeding from gingivitis in people with gingivitis and chronic Periodontitis. There was no significant difference between the three mouthwashes (Complement Ther Clin Pract 2014;20:93-98).

New Benefit - Diabetes

A study has found that ginger helps people with type II diabetes. 81 people with type II diabetes were given either 3 grams of ginger powder or a placebo for 8 weeks. Fasting blood glucose levels went down by 10.5% in the ginger group while it went up by 21% in the placebo group. The ginger group also had significant improvement in measures of insulin resistance (Comp The Med2014; 22:9-16)

New Benefit - Skin Health

A study compared a cosmetic formula to an identical formula with the addition of green tea and to applying nothing at all. After 30 days the cosmetic formula with green tea significantly increased skin moisture, including hydration in the deeper cells levels, compared to both the formula without green tea and to nothing.
