Dr Kate's Recommenations for Anxiety
Dr Kate Rheaume-Bleue N.D. was featured on the Health First Radio Show recently and was talking about anxiety and stress. She said that it is apparent to most people that life seems to be moving faster and faster with the advent of new technologies and communication. Dr Kate said that natural approaches can make all the difference for people who are anxious.
Regular 6-8 hours of good sleep, regular exorcise and nutritional food can really be huge for people who have anxiety. Waking up at 3 am in the morning is a sign that you might have a blood sugar disorder. According to Dr Kate the most important meal of the day is breakfast because what you eat in the morning can actually affect how you sleep in the middle of the night. Getting enough protein and avoiding sugary breakfasts is often key to a good night sleep. If your bloodsugar is low you are going to wake up in the night said Dr Kate.
Some of the nutritional supplements that can make a huge difference for people with anxiety include B vitamins, Zinc, Vitamin C and Magnesium. According to Dr Kate mother nature also has some herbs that work really well for anxiety including Kava Kava which helps with deep relaxation but allows you to have mental clarity at the same time. Dr Kate told us that she often used Kava kava in university during exams because it helped her remain calm but be able to focus.
Other supplements that Dr Kate recommended for anxiety include GABA, which is the brains primary neurotransmitter, and people taking GABA often feel calmer after just 15 minutes. St Johns Wort is another herb that Dr Kate has seen have great results with patients.
